Grand Hôtel Stockholm unveils redesigned rooms
Stockholm, 8 September 2026 – Grand Hôtel Stockholm unveils redesigned rooms and suites across several floors of the hotel. Drawing on the hotel’s history and classic details, the interiors have been developed through colour, materials, textiles and furnishings. The ambition has been to combine historic character with a contemporary expression, creating interiors that feel both timeless and relevant today.
The design process began with the qualities already present in the hotel. Together with interior designer Sanna Nathanson of Studio Ramson, Grand Hôtel Stockholm has developed the existing interiors, adding new layers of colour, pattern, materials, textiles and carefully selected details. The focus has been on developing and refining what is already there, rather than changing everything.
— Grand Hôtel has a strong visual identity and a classic style that many people recognise and appreciate. It has therefore been important to understand what should be preserved and where we can introduce something new. We want to create interiors with personality that feel relevant today, without being tied to a particular trend. The ambition was to create rooms with character that also have a timeless quality, says Sanna Nathanson, founder and interior designer at Studio Ramson.
Colour, pattern and texture play a prominent role in the redesigned rooms. New textiles, headboards, lighting and furniture give the rooms a more distinctive character. In some rooms, the entrance halls have also been wallpapered, allowing the character of the interior to be established from the moment guests enter.
The Bernadotte Suite, one of Grand Hôtel’s signature suites, has also got an update. Its previously more traditional interior has become lighter and more contemporary. The pilasters have been painted to match the surrounding interior, while a mint-green colour now extends across both the walls and ceiling, creating a calm and cohesive overall impression. At the same time, selected elements of the previous interior have been preserved and given new life.
Quality and longevity are an important part of how Grand Hôtel develops its interiors. By investing in materials and furniture of the highest quality, and by continuously caring for each room, much can be preserved over time. Throughout the redesign, existing elements have therefore been combined with new additions. Some pieces of furniture have been reupholstered, while details such as artwork and selected lamp bases have been retained.
— For us, sustainability begins with quality and longevity. We invest in materials and furniture that are made to last and devote considerable time and care to maintaining our rooms. This allows us to continue developing Grand Hôtel Stockholm without starting from scratch each time. We preserve what is already here and add something new where it makes a difference. It is an important part of how we care for the hotel, both today and for the future, says Pia Djupmark, CEO of Grand Hôtel Stockholm.
