The dining room wins award for best service experience

Winners of the White Guide 2012 awards were honoured yesterday, March 5, at an awards gala in the Vinterträdgården at the Grand Hôtel in Stockholm. The ‘Service experience of the year’ category was awarded to Mathias Dahlgren’s Matsalen restaurant for its innovative and ambiance-enhancing service.

The White Guide’s criteria for this category encompass: care of guests, food and beverage expertise, dining room work procedures and service performance as well as setting the right tone when addressing guests, from table reservations to thank you and goodbye.

“Naturally, I am very proud of this award and it further inspires us to continue developing our overall concept, where the focus is both on service experience and gastronomy” said a happy Mathias Dahlgren.

“We are very pleased that Sweden’s best service experience is found here at the Grand Hôtel. Our ambition is to become one of the foremost hotels in Europe” said Marie-Louise Kjellström, CEO Grand Hôtel.

The jury’s statement: “For having unbuttoned at least one button in what is an essentially formal dining approach, delivered in an increasingly confident and more relaxed attitude, peppered with entertaining service innovations that enhance the ambiance, increase the appetite and advance the frontline of Swedish restaurant culture.”
